Honey Island Swamp Band rocks Callaghan's in Mobile

Honey Island Swamp Band played their first show at Callaghan's Irish Social Club on 7/24/11. Hailing from New Orleans these five rowdy guys brought their own brand of  "swamp funk" to Mobile, AL for the first time.  I have had the pleasure of seeing them several times over the years. Each time gets better! They've played locally at Moe's Original BBQ in Daphne, the Keg Lounge in Orange Beach and had an unbelievable set at this year's Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores.
HISB's members are Aaron Wilkinson (guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals) Chris Mule' (guitar, vocals) Sam Price (bass, vocals) Trevor Brooks (B-3, piano) Garland Paul (drums, percussion).
Their music is a perfect blend of blues, funk, rock, country and bluegrass. They are truly as fun to watch as they are to hear and you can't help but want get up and dance! They had the crowd on their feet and dancing all night. So much so that at one point an overzealous fan decided to expand the dance floor by shoving the
tables out of the way! At the end of the night, show-goers got a special treat when local favorite Chris Spies (Grayson Capps and the Lost Cause Minstrels) sat in on the B-3 and they played a killer cover of Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody"! Thank you to HISB for a great night of music and thank you Callaghan's for hosting them!! Let's do it again soon!
